Broccoli Casserole
A comforting broccoli casserole from Spoonsparrow – a real family favorite. Give it a try!
Ingredients
- 1 Broccoli
- Salt
- 1 onion
- 1 Garlic clove
- 25 g butter
- 50 g whole wheat flour
- 250 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- Pepper
- nutmeg
- 125 g mozzarella
- 50 g Parmesan
Instructions

Clean, wash and cut the broccoli into florets. Boil the florets in plenty of salted water for 2–3 minutes until very firm.

Peel and chop the onion and garlic. Melt butter in a pot, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add flour and stir for 1 minute over low heat. Gradually whisk in milk and simmer the sauce while stirring for about 5 minutes. Season the béchamel with salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg.

Place the broccoli in a baking dish. Pour the béchamel over it. Slice mozzarella into thin strips and lay them on top; grate parmesan and sprinkle over everything. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for 25–30 minutes until golden.
