Blackberries in Brandy

Ingredients

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 piece untreated lemon zest
  • 0.8 kg blackberries
  • 300 g sugar
  • 300 ml brandy (more as needed)
  • 4 star anise

Instructions

    Wash the blackberries and pat them dry.

    Bring the sugar and 150 ml water to a boil. Add the cinnamon stick and lemon zest. Simmer for about 15 minutes until syrupy, then strain through a sieve.

    Combine the syrup with the brandy. Distribute the berries and star anise into glasses. Pour the brandy mixture over so that everything is covered (add more brandy if desired), seal well and store in a cool, dark place for at least 5 weeks.
