Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 4 beef tomatoes
  • salt (ground)
  • pepper (ground)
  • 1 bunch Basil
  • 200 g mozzarella

Instructions

    Dice bacon. Peel and dice the onion. Peel the garlic. Heat olive oil in a pan and crisp-fry the bacon. Add onion cubes and fry until golden yellow. Add capers. Squeeze in garlic.

    Wash tomatoes and cut them horizontally twice. Season the cut surfaces with a little salt and pepper. Rinse basil, shake dry, and roughly chop (set aside some leaves for garnish). Slice mozzarella into about 1 cm thick slices.

    Line a baking sheet with foil and place the lower halves of the tomatoes on it. Sprinkle with some bacon-onion mixture and basil. Top each with a slice of mozzarella. Place tomato slices on top. Sprinkle again with bacon-onion mixture and basil. Cover with mozzarella and put the tomato tops back on.
