Ingredients

  • 4 large waxy potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 Tbsp freshly chopped thyme
  • 400 g ground meat
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 250 ml Whipping Cream
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Emmental)
  • nutmeg
  • butter (for the dish)
  • thyme (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Peel the potatoes, cut them lengthwise in half and hollow out almost to a small rim. Boil the potato shells in salted water for about 20 minutes until almost cooked. Remove from water and drain well.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 180°C fan. Butter a baking dish.

  3. 3.

Dice the scooped-out potato pieces. Peel and finely dice the onion, then mix with the diced potatoes and thyme into the ground meat. Season with salt and pepper. Fill the shells with this mixture and place them in the buttered baking dish.

  4. 4.

Whisk together the cream, eggs, and half of the cheese. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour over the potatoes and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve garnished with fresh thyme.
