Make Alsatian Flammkuchen yourself: The classic oven-baked version is extremely popular and even provides essential minerals for healthy bones!

Ingredients

  • 21 g fresh yeast (0.5 cube of fresh yeast)
  • 20 g butter
  • 300 g spelt flour type 1050
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 onions
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil (for the baking sheet)
  • 150 g Sour cream
  • 140 g diced turkey bacon
  • freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

Instructions

    Dissolve the yeast in 170 ml lukewarm water and mix with the softened butter. Add the flour and salt, knead into a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a ball and let it rise covered in a warm place for 1 hour. Meanwhile, peel the onions and cut them into thin rings.

    Knead the dough again, roll it out thinly and round on a floured surface, then place it on an oiled baking sheet. Spread the sour cream over the dough, distribute the turkey bacon and onion rings evenly on top. Season with pepper. Bake in a preheated oven at 220 °C (fan: 200 °C; gas: level 3–4) for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
