Whole Grain Bread
We love whole grain bread! Prepare the juicy whole grain bread à la ➸ Spoonsparrow!
Ingredients
- 400 g spelt whole wheat flour
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 50 g flax seeds
- 50 g sesame seeds
- 50 g rolled oats
- 1 tsp beetroot syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp plant oil
Instructions

Mix the flour with the yeast and sugar, then knead with about 175 ml lukewarm water. Add more water or flour if needed. Place in a bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rest for about 1 hour in a warm place.

Combine flax seeds, sesame seeds, and rolled oats. Knead about two-thirds of this mixture together with the beetroot syrup, salt, and cumin into the dough. Knead vigorously for another 5-10 minutes to make the dough light and supple. Shape into a loaf and roll it in the remaining seeds.

Spray a baking tray with oil and place the loaf on it. Cover and let rest for about 30 more minutes.

Preheat the oven to 220 °C (425 °F) with upper and lower heat. Place a bowl of hot water in the oven and bake the bread for about 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 200 °C (400 °F) and bake for another 50 minutes.
