Spicy Tomato Sauce

Spicy tomato sauce: This piquant-fruity dip is an alternative to ketchup. The passata in the sauce contains cell-protective lycopene.

Ingredients

  • 2 onions
  • 1 tbsp Rapeseed Oil
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 150 g passata (tetrapak)
  • 0.5 small lemon
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 tsp sambal oelek
  • Salt

Instructions

    Peel and finely dice the onions. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the onions until translucent.

    Add tomato paste and passata, then heat through. Cover and simmer on low for about 15 minutes.

    Squeeze half a lemon.

    Stir soy sauce, honey, and sambal oelek into the tomatoes. Season with salt and lemon juice. Let cool for about 20 minutes, cover, and refrigerate until use.
