Sauerkraut Apple Gratin

Apple Sauerkraut gratin with almond crust: High in fiber and lactic acid bacteria, great for gut health and digestion.

Ingredients

  • 75 g tart apples (0.5 tart apple)
  • 150 g fresh sauerkraut
  • 5 fresh cranberries (or 1 tsp dried fruit)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tsp almond flakes
  • 0.5 tsp liquid honey

Instructions

    Wash the half apple, pat dry, halve it, core and finely dice.

    Place the sauerkraut in a bowl and loosen with a fork.

    Stir in the apple cubes and cranberries, season with salt and pepper, and spread into a small baking dish.

    Sprinkle almonds over the sauerkraut, drizzle honey on top, and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan: 160 °C, gas: level 2‑3) for about 10 minutes.
