Ingredients

  • 500 g sauerkraut (canned)
  • 3 onions
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 large apple
  • Salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • 12 Nürnberger Rostbratwürstchen sausages
  • 300 g butter cheese (sliced, with caraway)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Drain the sauerkraut and loosen it slightly. Peel the onions, cut them lengthwise in half and then slice crosswise into half-rings.

  2. 2.

Heat 2 1/2 tbsp oil in a pan, sauté the onions for 3 minutes until translucent. Wash the apple, quarter it and remove the core. Slice crosswise into ½ cm thick slices, add to the onions and cook for another 3 minutes.

  3. 3.

Add the sauerkraut, bring to a boil, season with salt and pepper, then set aside. Cut the cheese into small pan-sized pieces.

  4. 4.

Brown the sausages in the remaining oil in a pan. Spread the sauerkraut onto the small pans, halve the sausages and place them on top of the sauerkraut. Distribute the cheese over the pans. Bake in a hot raclette grill for 8-10 minutes.
