Ingredients

  • 1 kg small potatoes (firm boiling)
  • 1 tsp Caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 herring fillets
  • 2 tbsp chive rolls
  • 200 g cottage cheese
  • 100 g Sour cream
  • 1 tbsp grated horseradish (fresh or jarred)
  • 1 tart apple
  • chive rolls for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1.

Pat fish fillets dry and cut into small cubes. Mix cottage cheese, sour cream, and horseradish; combine with fish and chives. Peel, halve, core, and grate the apple roughly. Stir into the sauce and let rest at least 15 minutes, preferably up to an hour, then taste again.

  2. 2.

Simultaneously place potatoes with caraway seeds and salt in a large pot. Cover with water, bring to a boil, and cook for about 20-25 minutes until tender. Drain, briefly rinse, and peel.

  3. 3.

Arrange the peeled potatoes on plates, top with the herring‑cream sauce, sprinkle chive rolls, and serve promptly.
