Ingredients

  • 1 Organic Orange
  • 1 piece ginger (20 g)
  • 750 ml red wine (dry or semi-dry)
  • 200 ml grape juice
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (Ceylon)
  • 1 crushed cardamom pod
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 tbsp raw cane sugar (45 g)

Instructions

    First rinse the orange hot, pat dry and slice into rounds. Peel the ginger and cut into thin slices.

    Slowly warm the red wine with orange slices, ginger, grape juice, spices and sugar in a pot over medium heat. Do not boil; let it steep for 15 minutes only.

    If desired, strain the mulled wine through a sieve into cups and enjoy hot.
