Mediterranean Cabbage Bake
Mediterranean Cabbage Bake from ➸ Spoonsparrow tastes not only for dinner!
Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage (about 1.2 kg)
- Salt
- 2 onions
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 250 g Cherry Tomatoes
- 180 g feta cheese
- 500 g ground beef
- pepper (ground fresh)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Sambal oelek
- 200 ml milk
- 75 g light cream
- 2 Eggs
- nutmeg (fresh grated)
- 2 tbsp chopped herbs (e.g. parsley and basil)
Instructions

Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage, cut out the core and slice the cabbage into fine strips. Blanch in plenty of salted water for about 8 minutes, drain well.

Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic. Wash and halve the tomatoes. Cube the feta.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) with upper and lower heat.

Brown the ground beef in a non-stick pan without oil. Add the diced onions and garlic and cook until crumbly. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and sambal oelek.

Layer the cabbage and beef alternately in a baking dish. Distribute the tomatoes on top. Whisk together the milk, light cream and eggs. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and herbs and pour over the layers. Sprinkle feta on top and bake for about 30 minutes until golden.

Serve hot as a hearty dinner.
