Ingredients

  • 12 untreated lemons
  • 1 kg sugar
  • 2 stems basil

Instructions

    Wash the lemons hot and pat them dry. Zest the peel into strips and squeeze out all the juice.

    Bring the juice, zest, sugar and 600 ml water to a boil. Simmer for about 5 minutes, add the basil, then remove from heat. Let cool and steep for about 1 hour.

    Strain the syrup through a fine sieve, reheat briefly, and pour into prepared bottles. Seal tightly and allow to cool completely.
