Indian-Style Meat Stew with Potatoes and Peas

Ingredients

  • 300 g waxy potatoes
  • 2 chili peppers
  • 2 onions
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 piece ginger (2 cm)
  • 3 tbsp ghee (or clarified butter)
  • 600 g mixed ground meat
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 250 ml Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • Salt
  • 150 peas (frozen)
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Indian flatbread (Naan)

Instructions

    Peel, wash and dice the potatoes. Wash the chili peppers and cut into rings. Peel and finely chop the onions, garlic cloves, and ginger. Heat ghee in a pan and brown the ground meat over high heat until crumbly. Add the chopped onions, garlic, chili rings, ginger, cumin, garam masala, and turmeric; stir for 2 minutes over medium heat.

    Deglaze the pan with beef broth. Add the potato cubes and paprika powder, season with salt, cover, and simmer gently for about 20 minutes. Stir in the peas and cook another 10 minutes until just boiling. Season the meat with salt and cayenne pepper to taste. Serve hot with Indian flatbread if desired.
