- 3 tbsp Lime juice
- 1 Garlic clove
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp paprika (sweet)
- 1 tsp cumin (ground)
- 1 tsp coriander (ground)
- Salt
- black pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 tbsp almond slivers (golden‑brown roasted)
Instructions
-
1.
Rinse the chicken, pat dry and cut into eight pieces. Arrange them side by side in a shallow dish.
-
2.
Peel the ginger and grate it into the yogurt. Peel the garlic and slice it thinly. Stir the chili powder, turmeric, paprika, cumin, coriander and sesame oil into the yogurt. Generously spread the spiced yogurt over the chicken pieces and cover; refrigerate for at least 6 hours to marinate.
-
3.
Preheat the oven to 160 °C fan‑forced.
-
4.
Remove the chicken from the marinade, pat dry and place in a baking tray. Bake for about 40 minutes, turning as needed and brushing with yogurt during cooking.
-
5.
Just before serving, warm the remaining spiced yogurt with a little water to your desired consistency and season with salt and pepper.
-
6.
Serve the golden‑brown baked chicken pieces either simmered briefly in the sauce or topped with the yogurt sauce and garnished with almond slivers.
