Grandma's Pear Cake
Spoonsparrow’s Grandma’s Pear Cake: This cake evokes memories of bygone days.
Ingredients
- 75 g soft butter (for greasing)
- 250 g sugar
- 2 pears
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 250 g butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 5 eggs
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 100 g ground almonds (peeled)
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 400 g flour
- 150 ml milk
- powdered sugar (for dusting)

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with both top and bottom heat.

Grease a springform pan. Spread butter thinly on the rim and thickly on the base, then sprinkle with 50 g of sugar. Peel, halve, core, and cut the pears into wedges. Drizzle with lemon juice and arrange evenly on the pan’s base.

For the batter, cream the butter with salt and remaining sugar until fluffy. Gradually add eggs, stirring until creamy. Then whisk in the flour mixed with baking powder, almonds, and cinnamon, followed by milk, mixing quickly to form a smooth, spreadable dough. Spread over the pears and level the surface. Bake for about 50 minutes, checking with a skewer.

Remove from oven, let cool completely, then lift out of the pan and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
