Ingredients

  • 1 coconut
  • 100 ml milk
  • 50 g Brown sugar
  • 100 ml whipping cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 pinch nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • 1 pinch cardamom (ground)
  • coconut oil (for the molds)
  • powdered sugar
  • cinnamon powder

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.

    Break open the coconut and remove the hard shell, collecting the coconut liquid. Set aside a few very thin slices for decoration, strip the rest of the brown skin and finely grate it. Boil the grated coconut with milk, sugar, and cream. Remove from heat, let stand 15 minutes, then strain through a fine cloth and squeeze out excess liquid. Mix the coconut milk with the coconut liquid, eggs, and spices, and pour into molds greased with oil. Place on a deep baking tray and fill about two finger widths with hot water. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for about 1 hour.

    Remove the molds from the oven, let cool, then serve by transferring onto plates. Decorate with coconut slices and dust with powdered sugar and a touch of cinnamon.
