Classic Pasta Salad

Classic pasta salad from Spoonsparrow is easy to prepare and tastes great for dinner, lunch, or as a take‑away meal.

Ingredients

  • 350 g casarecce (or macaroni)
  • 400 g Kassler (or whole turkey breast ham)
  • 200 g peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 Spring Onions
  • 100 g cheddar cheese (chunked)
  • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 100 g Sour cream
  • 200 g whipping cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

    Wash, peel and julienne the carrot. Thaw peas if needed; trim and wash spring onions, then cut diagonally into ~0.5 cm rings. Cook pasta according to package instructions in plenty of boiling salted water. After 5 minutes add carrots, peas, and onion rings, cook until done. Drain in a sieve, rinse with cold water, drain again and let cool.

    Slice cheddar into julienne strips. Cut Kassler into ~1 cm cubes. Mix cheese and ham into the pasta‑vegetable mixture; season generously with salt and pepper.

    Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, and whipping cream together until smooth; season with salt and pepper. Pour dressing over the salad and toss well. Serve on plates, garnished as desired.
