Chocolate Waffles

The chocolate waffles from Spoonsparrow contain plenty of fiber, vitamins, and minerals thanks to whole wheat flour.

Ingredients

  • 150 g spelt whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp highly refined cocoa powder (14 g)
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 15 g raw cane sugar (1 tbsp)
  • Salt
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 200 ml Milk (3.5% fat)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100 ml sparkling mineral water
  • 70 g dark chocolate shavings (at least 70% cocoa content)
  • 1 orange
  • 50 g whipping cream
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar from raw cane sugar

Instructions

    Mix flour with cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Melt 2 tbsp coconut oil, add milk and eggs to the dry mixture and whisk well. Add sparkling water and 50 g chocolate shavings.

    Spread ½ tsp coconut oil on each side of the hot waffle iron and cook four waffles one after another; if needed keep warm in a preheated oven at 80 °C (fan 60 °C; gas: level 1).

    For serving peel the orange so that all white pith is removed; cut fruit slices between the membranes. Whip cream until stiff.

    Decorate waffles with orange slices and whipped cream, sprinkle remaining chocolate shavings and dust with powdered sugar.
