Ingredients

  • 500 g pumpkin flesh (e.g., muskmelon pumpkin)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500 g canned chickpeas
  • 180 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 bunch fresh chopped coriander
  • 2 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 untreated lime (juice)
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • lime wedge (for garnish)
  • coriander (for garnish)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 200°C fan and grill.

    Cut the pumpkin flesh into 2 cm cubes, mix with olive oil, and spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.

    Rinse the chickpeas under running water and drain well.

    Remove the baked pumpkin cubes from the oven, let them cool slightly, then roughly mash with the chickpeas so some chickpeas remain whole. Add breadcrumbs, egg, coriander, garam masala, and lime juice; mix thoroughly. Peel the garlic, squeeze it in, and knead into the mixture. With damp hands, shape small patties from the dough and fry them in a hot pan with oil until golden brown on both sides. Reduce heat and let the patties finish cooking.
