Chai Latte Recipe

The Chai Latte from Spoonsparrow sweetens your morning or lifts you out of an afternoon slump.

Ingredients

  • 5 black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tbsp black tea (e.g., Assam)
  • 400 ml milk (3.5% fat)
  • 4 tsp honey

Instructions

    Bring peppercorns, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves and star anise to a boil with 800 ml water and simmer over low heat for about 10–15 minutes.

    Add the black tea and let steep for 3–5 minutes. Strain and pour into glasses. Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium heat and froth hot with a whisk or milk frother.

    Fill glasses with chai latte, sweeten to taste with 1 tsp honey each, and serve.
