Camembert with Figs

Creamy Camembert with figs is a perfect French combination of sweet and savory. More great combinations are available on Spoonsparrow.

Ingredients

  • 320 g Camembert (4 pieces)
  • 6 ripe figs
  • 0.5 Red Onion
  • 1 tbsp Rapeseed Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • a pinch cinnamon
  • a pinch allspice
  • 1 tbsp acacia honey
  • 3 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) with top and bottom heat. Place the Camemberts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the hot oven (middle rack) for 8-10 minutes. Meanwhile, wash the figs, pat them dry and quarter them. Peel and finely chop the red onion. Sauté the onions in hot oil, add the figs and cook together. Season with a little salt, pepper, cinnamon and allspice. Remove from heat and stir in the honey.

    Score the Camembert in a crisscross pattern and arrange on plates. Add the figs, sprinkle with walnuts and garnish with thyme.
