Ingredients

  • 20 g peas (frozen)
  • 1 kg fish fillet (e.g., cod)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Eggs
  • 50 g flour
  • 150 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 Spring onion
  • plant oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Let the peas thaw. Wash the fish fillets, pat them dry and cut into small fish shapes or use a mold to create fish-shaped pieces. Use any remaining fish for another dish such as soup. Season the fish pieces with salt and pepper and drizzle with lemon juice. Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl together. Sprinkle the flour on one plate. Place the breadcrumbs on another plate and mix in the paprika powder. Wash, trim, and finely chop the spring onion; fold it into the breadcrumb mixture.

  2. 2.

First coat each fish piece in flour, tapping off excess. Then dip through the beaten eggs and roll in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Press the coating firmly onto the fish and press a pea into each as an eye. Fry portions in hot oil (about 170 °C) for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 3.

After frying, drain on kitchen paper and serve with fries if desired.
