Bread with Eggs

This bread with eggs is a healthy and delicious recipe that’s perfect for a quick breakfast or light meal.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 40 g Butter
  • 150 g cheese (sliced; e.g., cheddar)
  • 100 g salami (sliced)
  • 7 eggs
  • 80 ml heavy cream
  • Sea salt
  • ground pepper
  • 2 tbsp plant oil
  • thyme leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

    Thinly spread butter on 4 slices of sourdough bread. Top with cheese and salami.

    From the remaining 4 slices, cut out a circle (about 5.5 cm diameter) in the center and place each slice onto the prepared breads.

    Whisk together eggs and cream, seasoning with salt and pepper. Carefully dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture so they are fully coated.

    Heat a non‑stick pan over medium heat, adding the remaining butter and oil. Fry for 4–5 minutes until golden brown. Flip (hole side up) and place a cracked egg in each hole. Cover, cook for another 4–5 minutes until set and golden.

    Wash thyme, shake dry, then pluck leaves from stems. Sprinkle thyme over the bread with eggs and season with a bit more salt and pepper.
