- 400 g green asparagus
- Salt
- 100 g ham (slices)
- 300 ml whipping cream
- 3 eggs
- 50 g grated cheese (e.g., cheddar)
- 1 Tbsp freshly chopped thyme
- nutmeg
- pepper (ground)
- 6 slices white bread (from yesterday)
- butter (for the baking dish)
- chives rolls (for garnish)

Preheat the oven to 180°C fan. Butter a baking dish.

Peel the lower third of the asparagus and boil for about 8 minutes in salted water. Drain, shock in cold water, let dry, then cut into ~2 cm pieces. Slice the ham into strips. Whisk together cream, eggs, and cheese. Add thyme and season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Cut the white bread into ~2 cm cubes and place them in the baking dish. Sprinkle ham and asparagus over the bread, then pour the egg‑cream mixture on top. The bread should be almost covered. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes until golden brown. Serve sprinkled with chives rolls.
