Ingredients

  • 24 herrings (filleted)
  • 0.75 l cold water
  • 0.75 l herb vinegar (5% acidity)
  • 3 tbsp salt (no iodized salt!)
  • 6 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste; use less if you prefer a slightly more sour flavor)
  • 1 pinch of fish seasoning
  • ground pepper
  • 1 carrot (sliced)
  • 0.5 celery root (sliced)
  • 1 onion
